I just found out from StatCounter.com that tomorrow is Blog Action Day ’08, a well-meaning attempt to turn the online community’s attention to the topic for this year: global poverty.
I don’t think there are many people who would deny it’s a big issue, and one that should be tackled – do we really need an Internet-wide awareness day? Maybe we do; community-driven content seems to hold more sway than the content on corporate or commercial websites.
Regardless, presumably any Google searches for the next few days will return completely irrelevant results. It will be interesting to see what happens.
